ABOUT US

ProEdX is a public benefit organisation dedicated to transforming lives of everyday people by advancing educational excellence.

On a mission to advance educational excellence

It is our mission to advance social mobility by empowering schools and underrepresented communities to be the best that they can be. We believe that schools lie at the heart of society, acting as pivotal centres for community development. By improving access to resources, we equip learners, families, educators, and communities with the tools needed to thrive and ascend in modern society.

Our Philosophy

ProEdX’s work is grounded in the idea that system-wide transformation requires holistic solutions that integrate pedagogical innovation, educator empowerment, and community participation.By adopting scalable, technology-driven solutions and prioritising equity in resource distribution, ProEdX contributes directly to addressing the core challenges in South Africa’s education system. Ultimately, ProEdX’s model seeks to uplift entire school ecosystems, ensuring that the transformative power of education extends beyond the classroom to shape social mobility, economic growth, and community resilience.

But there are some real problem

Schools in South Africa face a range of systemic, infrastructural, and socio-economic challenges that hinder the effectiveness of the education system. These problems impact learning outcomes, teacher performance, and the overall development of learners.Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) reveals that a staggering 81% of South African pupils cannot read for meaning by grade 4. Only 3 out of every 10 Grade 6 educators can read analytically and solve maths problems .Teachers are absent for an average of 19 days per year, which is more than double the average of 9 days observed in other Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries Of 100 learners that start school, 50-60 will make it to matric, 40-50 will pass matric, and only 14 will go to university. South Africa has one of the most unequal school systems in the world. Children in the top 200 schools achieve more distinctions in mathematics than children in the next 6,600 schools combined.
